Self Care for busy individuals
In todays fast paced world it is easy to get overwhelmed by the demands and pressures of this society. With all these demands and with our increasingly busy lifestyles we should not overlook taking care of ourselves.
Self care is not a luxury, it is a necessity.
Finding time for self care:
Schedule it - Treat self care as an essential appointment. Designate specific time slots each week for your self care activities. Prioritise these activities as you would with work or other essential commitments.
Delegate and say no - Learn to delegate tasks and say no. With our busy lifestyles it is quite common to push ourselves beyond limits. However, it is important to set boundaries and protect your time and energy. This also allows for more space to prioritise your self care practices.
Take it small steps at a time - Incorporate small practices of self care throughout your day. Mine would taking a moment to breathe or even 5 minutes of yoga. These brief moments can provide a much needed recharge. It allows you a moment to yourself, to settle down the chaos and to reevaluate the moment or to make better calculated decisions.
Waking up earlier - Yes, I am highlighting this point of "the early bird always catches the worm" once again. When you find yourself cultivated by time and the pressures of everyday life, waking up earlier can allow you to fit in more time for yourself where you can conduct these self care practices.
Importance of self care:
Self care is crucial for maintaining your mental and physical health. It prevents burnout as you allow yourself time to recharge in these moments of self care. You are reminded of your worth and reevaluate your approach to situations.
Prioritising self care sends out important, positive messages to your body, mind and others around you. You promote longevity and demonstrate the importance of nurturing your body. This inspires people around you to also promote the same practices and live healthier, positive lives.
In the midst of a busy, demanding life, self care must be taught to not be a luxury but rather a necessity. It is an essential investment in your wellbeing. By finding time to follow self care practices that promote growth, health and positivity, allows you to life a happier, sustainable life.
